Michael M. Patterson, PhD |
Dr. Patterson holds the Assistant Chair and is professor of Osteopathic Principles and Practices at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeast University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He has taught extensively since 1966 at such prestigious institutions as the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and the Universities of California and Ohio .
He received a BA in Chemistry-Zoology in 1964 from Grinnell College; Graduate school in Physiological Psychology from Indiana University in 1966; PhD in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1969; Postdoctoral fellowship in the Neurophysiology of Learning from the University of California and took all courses in Osteopathic Clinical Practice and Cranial Manipulation at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville in 1975-6. Michael has been honored with biographical material listed in many publications including Who's Who in the Midwest, Dictionary of International Biography, Who's Who in Frontier Science and Who's Who in the United States. He was granted Honorary Life Membership in the American Academy of Osteopathy in 1988 and the Irvin Korr Award for Exemplary Commitment to Basic Science Research at an Osteopathic Institution by the American Osteopathic Association in 2002. He serves as External Examiner for Theses at four Osteopathic colleges including the CCO in Toronto and Montreal. Apart from teaching, he has been engaged in neurological research since 1963 and his research now focuses on the efficacy and mechanisms of osteopathic manipulative treatment. He has written extensively and has published over 150 titles. |
