Traditional Osteopathy |
The CCO's principal program combines a comprehensive blend of osteopathic philosophy, theory, methodology, technique, clinical application and research elements, each of which is introduced in a progressive and cumulative fashion. The program in Traditional Osteopathy consists of five years of classroom study followed by one year of independent philosophical, clinical or experimental research. The curriculum is presented under the guidance of the college's faculty in a classroom setting. The program consists of 34 classes, distributed evenly over five years. Each session is four to five days in length, falling over a weekend in order to minimize any time lost from the student's full time employment. Each course is designed to progressively instruct the student in the two complementary elements of Traditional Osteopathy: The art of osteopathic palpation and the science of the interrelationships in the human body Following an osteopathic directed overview of the relevant anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the area under study, a significant portion of each class is then devoted to the hands-on application, practice and reinforcement of osteopathic palpation coupled with the application of theory and relevant corresponding osteopathic therapeutic techniques. |
