Students are also evaluated on their ability to present a small literature review on a particular subject that they had studied in the preceding academic year. In addition they are expected to demonstrate one or two associated techniques. This opportunity prepares students for the communication of the osteopathic process to their patients, the patient's relatives or other health care practitioners. It also serves as a review of the year's work and as prelude to the final presentation of their research. In preparing for the final research presentation the student is required to present a protocol or research proposal for the thesis. This protocol is presented in writing and orally in front of a panel of Osteopaths. Not only is this protocol evaluated, but it is also reviewed by the panel that then provides valuable feedback to the student on the feasibility of the thesis proposal. |
