Osteopathy's Place Within the Health Care System |
Osteopathy should not be thought of as an alternative to conventional medical treatment. Instead it is complementary to it. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners frequently rely upon the medical profession's diagnostic tools and skills to determine the appropriateness of osteopathic treatment. In addition all students of the Canadian College of Osteopathy are instructed in the fundamentals of pathophysiology, a subject that helps to identify problems that need immediate medical or on-going medical attention. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners who are CCO graduates welcome the opportunity to support medical or allopathic treatment. |
